Attention fellow food and Lake Lovers! Today (Columbus Day) is the last day that Sunset Cove Restaurant and Cafe will be open during the week until Magical Nights of Lights Starts.
Sunset Cove Restaurant and Cafe is one of the most popular lakeside eating destinations on Lake Lanier. There aren’t a ton of places on the Lake where you can just dock your boat and walk right up to get some grub, and Sunset Cove frequently offers live music in addition to giant fire pits and big screen tvs for optimal sports-watching. But as winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, we find that people are much less likely to want margaritas and ice cream, and much more likely to want soup and hot chocolate.
That’s why we’re very happy to announce that Sunset Cove will be getting some modifications in the near future to combat the encroaching cold. This information is hot off the presses, so check back regularly here, on our Facebook page, and Twitter page for more details as they come out!
This weekend will be your last weekend of the season to catch some great live entertainment at Sunset Cove. The popular lakeside restaurant is still open for lunch and dinner, so come on out for delicious food, great music, and blissful sunshine before those cool fall nights overtake the lake. Winter is coming, after all. But before we can get all excited about Magical Nights of Lights, we’ve got to get excited about this weekend entertainment!
On Saturday afternoon, 1-5pm, Johnny Summers will be jamming on his guitar as his awesome acoustic sweeps over the Sunset Stage.
Then, on Saturday evening,6-10pm, Michael Cahen will croon while playing his guitar at Sunset Stage. Enjoy your dinner while taking in the mellow sounds of the lake and the docks and Michael Cahen.
Labor Day Weekend begins today as boaters and celebrants begin to drift onto the Islands ready for a great time! We’ve worked hard to draft a great line-up of bands and live entertainment that will thrill fans of every genre across all age groups! We’re also very happy the weather has held up, and it promises to be a warm, and more importantly DRY weekend – perfect for barbecue, ice cold lemonade and Coke, and of course, all the water slides you can handle!
So come on out this weekend and join us at LanierWorld for a weekend filled with live music, drink specials and our famous fireworks show!

Can you believe it’s already August?? We can’t either! This week was the last full week of LanierWorld being open, although it will continue to be open on weekends. Sunset Cove and Gianni’s will also continue to operate on a daily basis until Labor Day. There’s still plenty to do at the Lake even though LanierWorld is nearing the end of its Summer heyday.
For example, try golfing on one of our championship courses designed by Billy Fuller, the man who invented “Billy Bunkers,” used in over 500 courses nationwide! The Legacy on Lanier Golf Club represents a return to the Golden Era of Golf – a period from the early to mid 1900’s when designers created some of the most storied courses in the world. An unrivaled golf experience, the layout traverses a natural setting with twelve scenic holes on the water. Legacy on Lanier Golf Club offers tactical challenges for the avid golfer while not proving too daunting for the casual golfer. Legacy on Lanier Golf Club includes a fully stocked golf shop, new state of the art MiniVerde Bermuda Greens, and zoysia lined “Billy Bunkers,” an innovative Bunker design developed by Fuller during his tenure at Augusta National Golf Club. For scratch golfers and high handicappers alike, the Lake Lanier Golf Club offers a challenging, aesthetically pleasing lakeside golf experience. There’s not a lot more relaxing in life than going golfing in the Fall when the leaves are changing in North Georgia.
Another great outdoor activity to take advantage of this Fall is horseback riding. Saddle up for the ride of your life at Lake Lanier Islands Equestrian Center. Gentle horses are ready to take you through a set of scenic trails along the shores of Lake Lanier Islands. Our Stable guides are some of the friendliest in the Southeast, and you will not be disappointed in their knowledge and professionalism. Older kids and adults can enjoy a 45-minute ride along the shores of Lake Lanier Islands, which departs every hour on the hour. Younger kids can go on a 30-minute ride, suitable for children two years of age and up weighing less than 80 pounds. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
If horses and golfing don’t quite feel right for you, check out our rustic campgrounds! The Campgrounds at Lake Lanier Islands Resort and Shoal Creek are just the place to enjoy the serenity and natural beauty of Lake Lanier Islands. These campgrounds offer an idyllic rustic destination for adventurers who yearn to sleep under the star-filled skies of Georgia, with the moon overhead and the sound of the lake as a soundtrack. During the day, guests have easy access to all the excitement of Lake Lanier Islands Resort, including LanierWorld waterpark, award-winning golf facilities, rejuvenating spa treatments, the equestrian center, zip line canopy tours and more.Boat ramps are also available at all of our campgrounds.
A fourth fantastic option is our Canopy Zip Line Tours. Soar through the Georgia skies on one of Lake Lanier Islands canopy tours’ zipline adventures! There are 6 tour types available depending on the size of your group and the amount of awesome you feel like you can handle in one day. Try the PineIsle Tour and glide along several 1000+ ft lines, race a buddy on a 1,500ft zip track, and naturally, see some spectacular views of the Lake and the Islands! Check out the Legacy Nights Tour for some adventurous excitement. Zip through the trees and over the lake by night in the most exciting option of all our Lake Lanier Islands outdoor tours! Throughout your tour you will travel by moonlight, headlamps, and lanterns on a series of cleverly constructed zip lines, sky bridges, and platforms up to 70 feet in the treetops. Or, if you think you can handle it, go for the Full Day of Zipping Package! This package includes 30 incredible ziplines with incredible views, six sky bridges where you can test your mettle and conquer the trees, entrance to the resort, and lunch at Bullfrogs! The Canopy Tours are one of the favorites here at the Lake, and we are positive you’ll be talking about this one to your friends for months, and they’ll be asking you when the next trip will be!
So don’t be sad that Summer is coming to an end! There’s still plenty of fun to be had at Lake Lanier Islands! We can’t wait to see you!

“No shoes, No shirt, No problems
Blues what blues..hey I forgot them
The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom
and no shoes, no shirt, and no problems!”
Kenny Chesney might have phrased it best, but where he likes Mexico, we like Lake Lanier! There really is nothing better than relaxing on the beach with your toes in the sand, listening to some great country music!! And that’s just what we’ll be doing here on Saturday, when 94.9 The Bull sets up shop at LanierWorld from 1-3pm! In honor of that glorious time, we’ve put together a very specific list of our Top 10 Lakeside Songs of Summer, are you ready?? Here we go:
10. We’re starting off with “Summertime Blues,” Eddie Cochran’s Rockabilly classic from 1958. Alan Jackson brought this song back to the top in 1994, and it’s been covered by a ton of artists including the Beach Boys, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and even Joan Jett! We gave it our last spot because Summer’s already down one month and it kind of is giving us the blues.
9. We’re giving the #9 slot to Jake Owen’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” because this is what summer on the lake is all about! “A full moon shinin’ bright, edge of the water; we were feelin’ alright”
8. Tim McGraw’s “Something Like That” is the 8 seed. We love this song in particular because it reminds us of hanging out at the Stone Mountain Laser Show back in the day. Remember that song on the mountain? With that cute kid and the barbeque stain on his white t-shirt? That was great.
7. Zac Brown Band is next with “Toes,” a song all about what we love down at Big Beach and Sunset Cove! Toes in the water, toes in the sand, no worries in the world, cold beers in people’s hands. It wouldn’t hurt to win the lottery either… Life is good today, Zac Brown Band! Thanks to you!
6. The #6 spot on our list goes to Luke Bryan and his super-fun-to-dance-like-a-crazy-person song “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” because really, this song is SO FUN TO DANCE TO.
5. “Summertime” by Kenny Chesney gets our next slot. We love him so much we gave away some tickets just last week to his upcoming “No Shoes Nation” concert!
4. The #4 spot goes to the one and only Don Henley and “Boys of Summer.” After Henley took a break from drumming and singing for The Eagles, he released this song in 1984 which won him a grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. Although The Eagles and Henley have walked the tightrope between rock and country for years, we’re thinking that a song about past relationships, growing up, and summer love is right in line with your typical country summer anthem.
3. Rascal Flatts “Summer Nights” gets the third spot in our list purely for the awesome factor of their music video. That looks like one fun party to us.
2. His name is Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid Rock! In 2008, “All Summer Long” netted Kid Rock his first Top-10 Country hit ever! This incredible Southern summer anthem actually began as a mashup of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s classic “Sweet Home Alabama,” which you can easily make out in the chorus vocals and guitar riffs.
1. Of COURSE we’re going to go with a lake-centric, chill, totally fun song for the #1 Top Lakeside Song of Summer!! We picked “Pontoon” by Little Big Town! Can’t you just picture yourself chillin’ on a deck chair on your pontoon, a drink from the Tiki Hut in hand, and watchin’ the crew play some volleyball at Sunset Cove? We can’t think of any song that better personifies Summer on Lake Lanier than this one!
What about you? What are your top 10 summer songs? Feel free to leave them in the comment section!
