Lake Lanier Islands and the Canopy Tours Haunted Zip Line Tour

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

Atlanta is typically a pretty cool place to be for Halloween. You’ve got your Six Flags Fright Fest and its Creature Crew, you’ve got your Netherworld and its insane combination of special effects and make-up, you’ve got your cemetery tours at Oakland and  McDonough, ghost tours throughout Atlanta (all those Confederate soldiers had to do something productive with their afterlife…) and at the Fox Theatre, not to mention all the events and parties at every major Atlanta venue including the Atlanta Zoo, Fernbank, the Georgia Aquarium, and even the Atlanta Botanical Gardens! You literally will run out of costume ideas before you will run out of awesome Halloween-themed things to do in Atlanta this year.

But without a doubt, Lake Lanier will be offering a one-of-a-kind event that you simply can’t get anywhere in Atlanta. No rooftop bars, no monster mashes, no roller coaster parks can even come close.

This October, prepare to experience the thrill of zooming through the air with monsters all around!

Check out the dates below:

October 11th and 12th
October 18th and 19th
October 25th – Nov 2nd.

The first tour will launch at 7:30 each night. We will have 4-6 launch times each night. Reservations are required. Price is $80/person.

We encourage you to check out Living Social for an amazing deal:

  • $47 ($95 Value) for a Package for One
  • Ride Seven Exhilarating Zip Lines & Cross Two Sky Bridges
  • Commemorative T-Shirt.

Located in Buford, this action-packed park boasts a network of zip lines nestled in the treetops. Put your courage to the test on the aerial courses, including two zip lines that take you soaring over the lake. Guides will lead the way as you traverse seven zip lines and two sky bridges during this adrenaline-pumping two-hour challenge. A complementary T-shirt commemorates your quintessential Halloween experience — which will have you and your fellow thrill seekers howling under the moon.

Turns out you don’t need a broomstick to soar through the skies this October — just hold on tight to this deal from Lake Lanier Canopy Tours for admission to a haunted canopy/zipline tour.

Lake Lanier Islands presents: Fall!

Monday, September 30th, 2013

Well, ladies and gentlemen, Autumn has arrived, and with it we have beautiful leaves, nippier weather, a whole new color palette, cookouts, school for the young-un’s, and of course, pumpkin-spice everything. You may have started noticing minor changes a few weeks ago. A dropped leaf browning on the sidewalk here, a fellow passerby with long sleeves there. The scarves are out at department stores everywhere, and heaven help us, they’ve even started bringing out the Christmas decorations to sit beside the Halloween masks. Here at the Lake, we’ve already begun to see hints of the sort of sweeping transformation that north Georgia and Appalachia are famous for. Indeed, the changing of the leaves in the southeast can actually be seen from outer space! How’s that for a natural wonder of the world?? Of course, we think Lake Lanier is beautiful in every season, but for sheer vibrance, fall simply can’t be beat. We’ll just leave you here to gaze at the marvelous splendor of Mother Nature.

Eric Shanteau has been with the US National Swimming Team for the past decade, after swimming and competing as a kid for SwimAtlanta and dreaming of competing at the Olympic games. He qualified to swim the 200 breaststroke at the Beijing Olympics, but was struck with devastating news only one week before he would make the team; he was diagnosed with testicular cancer on June 19, 2008. He delayed treatment so he could compete, and raced to a personal best time in Beijing. It was at this time that he began his journey to become a cancer awareness advocate among the young adult community, and connected with the LiveStrong Foundation. Less than a week after returning from the Olympics Eric underwent surgery and was declared cancer free on September 15, 2008.  Eric then made the decision to get involved with the global fight against cancer, and wanted to use his experience and his voice to bring in the swim community like Armstrong had with the cycling community. Eric returned to the pool with a new perspective on the sport and came back faster than ever.

Less than a year after his diagnosis Eric became a World Champion and broke his first World and American Records. Afterwards, in 2010, Eric founded the Swim For Your Life Challenge, an open water event held right here at Lake Lanier, 40 minutes north of his hometown of Atlanta, GA.

The Swim For Your Life event was started based on the idea that no matter what obstacle a person faces, they can still live the life they have dreamed about.  Over the past two years, hundreds of people have shown up to join Eric and many of his fellow Olympians to show their support in the fight against cancer.  Participants are able to race alongside some of the best swimmers in the world in either a 1K or 5K open water swim around Sunset Cove.  Awards are presented by the Olympians at the conclusion of the race.  Afterwards, the national team members share their secrets to fast swimming in clinic held on the beach. All proceeds will go to the LiveStrong Foundation towards the fight against cancer.

Lake Lanier Islands Fall Wine Cruise Series

Monday, September 16th, 2013

If you haven’t had a chance to come out to one of our incredible wine cruises, you are missing an opportunity both unique and exciting. Fortunately for you, we have two more cruises lined up for October 6th and 20th!

Guests will interact with winemakers and other knowledgeable wine industry insiders for a cruise aboard the Island Princess complete with wine samples and creatively conceived appetizers that pair with each wine. Every wine cruise is different, but in the past, we’ve had gorgonzola-stuffed strawberries, caramelized onion Consommé Boules with lemon crème fraîche (tiny french onion soup loaf bowls for you non-French-speakers), and lamb lollipops with raspberry gastrique, and so much more!

Our wine cruises have become immensely popular – we’ve seen birthdays, congratulations for new jobs and promotions, engagements and anniversaries. Big groups and small groups, girlfriends and bros, young couples and elderly couples, business associates and family reunions, everyone has a great time on our cruises! Read about one of our June cruises here!

Here’s what some of our guests said about their experience on the Island Princess:

“The weather wasn’t the best, but the crew really took care of us, and the food was to die for!” – Sarah F.

“It was my birthday, so my sorority sisters took me on the wine cruise. I’m used to box wine [laughing], so of course the wines were amazing! I’m kidding! No really, I think it was my favorite birthday so far, everyone was so nice!” – Kara S.

“My wife insisted we come out and try it. Don’t tell her, but I had a lot of fun.” – Howard T.

The Island Princess will set sail at 2pm from Harbor Landing, and dock again at 5pm. This unique opportunity to cruise beautiful Lake Lanier with friends and associates is really going to make for a special and fun Sunday in October. Come see the leaves changing colors while you taste fabulous wines from all over the world!

For individuals, the entry is $50, and for a couple, $90. All guests can order the wines they sampled at the conclusion of each cruise. To sign up, please call our concierge at (770) 945-8787.
