Saturday, December 7th, 2013

Hey folks! This weekend is going to be really super special here at Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Chick-fil-A is sponsoring the weekend shenanigans and boy, do they have some great stuff lined up! First of all, the first 200 cars through the gate each night (December 6, 7 & 8) will be receiving a special surprise from those lovable cows, who have taken over some of our golf carts and are running amok all over the Islands!! So be on the look out for them and be sure to wave hello when you see one drive by, they might just stop and give you a great Christmas present! There will also be day skating parties on Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th! Skip the SEC championship game because if Georgia’s not in it, it doesn’t matter, and come hang out on the ice with us instead! Only $12 per person (includes skates) for UNLIMITED skating that day. What a deal! In addition, if you come early to our skate parties, our normal gate fee of only $10 applies until 4pm, when it goes up to the Magical Nights of Lights gate fee of $60! So if you come early to skate, you’re going to save $50!!

Happy Thanksgiving from Lake Lanier Islands!

Thursday, November 28th, 2013

We just want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving! From our family to yours, we’re so very thankful to all of you for making us a part of your family traditions. Now, enjoy this top ten list of what we’re thankful for!! What are you thankful for? Tell us in the comments!

10. We are thankful for the warm, sunny skies of summer. And we are thankful for the cool water of Lake Lanier and LanierWorld when those skies get a little too warm.

9. We are thankful for the poet Sydney Lanier, who lent his name to our beautiful slice of heaven, and for the US Army Corps of Engineers who built it and maintain it.

8. We are thankful to have an opportunity to provide fun and enjoyment to hundreds of thousands of guests who are looking for a little rest and relaxation.

7. We are thankful to get to host one of the South’s most charming Christmas light displays every year, and we are thankful to get to share it with our friends and family.

6. We are thankful for the Williams family, who have pumped more love and devotion into this property than any family should be able to. We are thankful for their vision, and we can’t wait to see where they take us next year.

5. We are thankful for our staff: housekeeping, front desk, front gate, maintenance, food and beverage, all of them! Without our incredible staff, we would just be an empty, albeit beautiful group of buildings on a lake. We are thankful for the time and effort they spend every day to make our property one of the very best in Georgia, if not in the entire Southeast.

4. We are thankful for all the groups that choose to host their conferences here. We love all the corporate families that come, big and small, and we are thankful to be able to provide them with a Conference Center that is both state-of-the-art and feels-like-home.

3. We are thankful to have a resort with truly amazing extra things to do. Zip lining, horseback riding, pontooning, water parking, concert going, golfing, fishing and more!! We are thankful that you can never be bored at Lake Lanier Islands!

2. We are thankful for our chefs who are serving up a most delicious and delightful Thanksgiving Buffet for everyone to come together and enjoy. We are thankful that feasting is a major part of this holiday, because feasting is the best.

1. We are most thankful for you: our guests, our friends. We can’t express adequately how much you all mean to us, and we look forward to being here with you for so many years to come!

Sunset Cove Fall and Winter Hours of Operation

Monday, October 14th, 2013

Attention fellow food and Lake Lovers! Today (Columbus Day) is the last day that Sunset Cove Restaurant and Cafe will be open during the week until Magical Nights of Lights Starts.

Sunset Cove Restaurant and Cafe is one of the most popular lakeside eating destinations on Lake Lanier. There aren’t a ton of places on the Lake where you can just dock your boat and walk right up to get some grub, and Sunset Cove frequently offers live music in addition to giant fire pits and big screen tvs for optimal sports-watching. But as winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, we find that people are much less likely to want margaritas and ice cream, and much more likely to want soup and hot chocolate.

That’s why we’re very happy to announce that Sunset Cove will be getting some modifications in the near future to combat the encroaching cold. This information is hot off the presses, so check back regularly here, on our Facebook page, and Twitter page for more details as they come out!

Lake Lanier Islands and the Canopy Tours Haunted Zip Line Tour

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

Atlanta is typically a pretty cool place to be for Halloween. You’ve got your Six Flags Fright Fest and its Creature Crew, you’ve got your Netherworld and its insane combination of special effects and make-up, you’ve got your cemetery tours at Oakland and  McDonough, ghost tours throughout Atlanta (all those Confederate soldiers had to do something productive with their afterlife…) and at the Fox Theatre, not to mention all the events and parties at every major Atlanta venue including the Atlanta Zoo, Fernbank, the Georgia Aquarium, and even the Atlanta Botanical Gardens! You literally will run out of costume ideas before you will run out of awesome Halloween-themed things to do in Atlanta this year.

But without a doubt, Lake Lanier will be offering a one-of-a-kind event that you simply can’t get anywhere in Atlanta. No rooftop bars, no monster mashes, no roller coaster parks can even come close.

This October, prepare to experience the thrill of zooming through the air with monsters all around!

Check out the dates below:

October 11th and 12th
October 18th and 19th
October 25th – Nov 2nd.

The first tour will launch at 7:30 each night. We will have 4-6 launch times each night. Reservations are required. Price is $80/person.

We encourage you to check out Living Social for an amazing deal:

  • $47 ($95 Value) for a Package for One
  • Ride Seven Exhilarating Zip Lines & Cross Two Sky Bridges
  • Commemorative T-Shirt.

Located in Buford, this action-packed park boasts a network of zip lines nestled in the treetops. Put your courage to the test on the aerial courses, including two zip lines that take you soaring over the lake. Guides will lead the way as you traverse seven zip lines and two sky bridges during this adrenaline-pumping two-hour challenge. A complementary T-shirt commemorates your quintessential Halloween experience — which will have you and your fellow thrill seekers howling under the moon.

Turns out you don’t need a broomstick to soar through the skies this October — just hold on tight to this deal from Lake Lanier Canopy Tours for admission to a haunted canopy/zipline tour.

Lake Lanier Islands’ Last Full Moon Party of the Season

Monday, August 26th, 2013

Lake Lanier hosted its last Full Moon Party of the season, and boy was it a doozy! There was a balloon artist, a magician, a stilt-walker walking around juggling bowling pins, a giant puppet guy that was even taller than the juggling stilt-walker, Jimmy Pyro the fire-breather, Banks & Shane played the Sunset Stage, Atlanta’s own Power 96.1 radio station hosted, and of course, there was a fantastic fireworks show at the end! But enough yammering on, let’s get to the pictures already!!

And there you have it folks, one last hurrah before the Fall. We’re going to be upping the ante next year – our fearless leaders have been traveling the globe in search of some of the most amazeballs full moon parties, and we’ll be implementing some of the best features here at the Lake! We can hardly wait!! If you didn’t quite get your fill of fireworks, not to worry! There will be a spectacular show at our Labor Day party next Sunday!!

Magical Nights of Lights | Commercial Contest

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

2012 is our 20th Anniversary for Magical Nights of Lights here in Buford, GA and we’re offering a great contest to help make a few lucky winners a part of Lake Lanier Islands history!

What’s Magical Nights of Lights?

This is our yearly celebration here at Lake Lanier Islands Resort that features miles of twinkling lights in different designs, a Holiday Village with Santa and all his friends, a carnival, great shopping, marshmallow roasting, a live nativity & more! Magical Nights of Lights, which lasts from November 16th to December 31st, has been a fixture of Southern holiday tradition for years. So this year, during our 20th Anniversary, we’re adding even more fun!

Remember, when you come to Lake Lanier Islands Resort for Magical Nights of Lights, you pay by the carload and not per person!

Commercial Contest Details

To promote our 20th Anniversary, we’re filming a commercial to air on television. That’s where you come in to the picture. Since Magical Nights of Lights is a family tradition, we’re opening up the casting for our commercial to you, our extended family! We’re looking for “family” members to be in our commercial.

So, What Do We Need to Do?

  1. Since Magical Nights of Lights is a per-carload price and not a per-person price, we want to see a picture of you and your friends/family packed into the car/van/truck/etc. Just remember to keep it safe!
  2.
  3.  The group pictured in the photo is what we will be looking at for our selection of winners.

  4. Submit your photos via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/lakelanierislands) OR email them to us at llircontests@gmail.com. It might not hurt to include a special Magical Nights of Lights memory along with your photo. 1 submission per family please.

Other Details

The contest begins Wednesday night (10/10) at 8 pm and we will stop accepting submissions on Tuesday evening (10/16) at 8 pm.

We will be choosing 2 carload pictures as the winners of our walk-on spots for the commercial. Winners will be announced on Wednesday (10/17) and filming for the commercial will begin Friday (10/19) around 1pm.

No acting experience needed, just a big smile, holiday cheer and a desire to be a part of 20 years of tradition!
