All New Menu at Bullfrog’s Bar & Grille!

Thursday, February 6th, 2014

Our New Year’s Resolutions included making your dining experiences even better, so we totally revamped our BullFrog’s menu! Now featuring even tastier burgers, steaks, salmon and more, the BullFrog’s of 2014 will be one of your top foodie destinations for the whole Lake Lanier area from down in Buford all the way up to Gainesville! Let’s take you through some old favorites that got an upgrade and some new flavors that are sure to delight your inner food snob.

We’ll start with our appetizers. We’re trying something new in the BullFrog’s kitchen, something that’s a very popular Southern flavor: Mini Chicken Waffle Bites. Chicken-n-waffles is a tried and true staple south of the Mason-Dixon line, so we’re very excited to be adding our take on it. We opted for the minis so everyone at your table could try some sugary goodness. They’re served hot with maple syrup, ancho chili powdered sugar, and a side of strawberry butter. Heaven.

You can start with those or any of our other 10 appetizers before moving on to a refreshing salad. Try our Southwestern Salad or Asian Mandarin Salad for a taste of culture, and top it with one of nine dressings, including one called “warm bacon” (how could that possibly be bad?) or our gluten-free mango pineapple vinaigrette.

Maybe you want a sandwich, and maybe you want fish on that sandwich! Boy are you in luck, because it literally does not get better than our Salmon BLT. Seriously. This is the sandwich that other sandwiches wish they could be. The David Beckham of sandwiches, if you will. Only instead of perfectly sculpted muscles, our sandwich has perfectly sculpted flaky croissant bread, and instead of pleasing your soccer buds, our sandwich is going to please your tastebuds. Oh, we also brought back the ever-popular French Dip.

This year we’re bringing our A Game to the table! A as in Angus. Tuck your napkin in your collar and check out our Signature Big Bullfrog Burger. This grilled behemoth of a burger comes with crumbled blue cheese, buffalo sauce, black & tan onion rings, and thick peppered bacon stacked high on lettuce, tomato, red onions, and pickle chips. Your tastebuds won’t know what to do with themselves. They might explode in happiness, they might sprout spirit fingers, they might throw a party. There’s no knowing in advance.

Perhaps you’d like a heartier fare? Try a 12oz. center-cut Rib Eye Steak or our 8oz Sirloin. You won’t find a better steak anywhere on the Lake. These savory slabs of meat are served with our signature Red Wine Demi Butter.

Since you’re on the lake, go with our 8oz. Atlantic Salmon with teriyaki or citrus butter. Our salmon comes in fresh and practically melts in your mouth. These fish are so lovingly seasoned that you’ll want to head back into our kitchen and hug your chef. Or, if you have a spare tarp to wrap around your clothes, you might want to bust it out before you order our Signature Firehouse Ribs. These bad boys are marinated in the Williams Family Signature Recipe (top secret, of course), and slow cooked for fall-off-the-bone yummy times. Don’t even play. This is for serious dining patrons with something to prove – like how much awesome they can handle in one sitting.

Now for dessert, if you can even handle it, we have something new and exciting that you won’t find anywhere else. The BullFrog’s Caramel Banana Topped Waffle could be classified as one of the Wonders of the World, but for some reason it doesn’t last very long once we put it on a plate. It could have something to do with how insanely amazing it tastes.

Now, pick your tongue up off the floor, get in your car or boat, and leap on in to BullFrogs Bar & Grille for a hoppin’ good time!!

Check out the FULL MENU here, and don’t forget to stop by for special dining events here at Legacy Lodge at Lake Lanier Islands!!

Plan your Romantic Valentine’s Day Getaway

Friday, January 17th, 2014

Picture it: rose petals, truffles, Champagne. You’re sitting in front of a roaring stone fireplace with the love of your life celebrating the most romantic day of the year. You’ve just finished a perfect four-course meal while listening to live music, and now you’re commemorating your experience with a professional picture, compliments of Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Your date is so overwhelmed and impressed she almost misses the long-stem tuxedo strawberries you’ve ordered special. You are the master of Valentine’s Day.

Do you have the general idea? Good. Now let’s talk details. You have some options, and if you really want to impress her, you’d better look over them and choose wisely. It’s not every man who can become a master of Valentine’s Day.

Dinner. Our chefs have prepared an incredible four-course meal for Valentine’s Day. Would you like wine or Champagne? It’s your choice. It really depends on what you would prefer to pair your selection with:

For an appetizer, choose between three amazing options. First, a mushroom, leek and goat cheese tart with cherry balsamic vincotto. Second, traditional French onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese crouton. Third, sausage- and spinach-stuffed Portabella mushroom with roasted tomato sauce. If these don’t get you salivating, you must not have tastebuds.

Now, to cleanse your palate and to add refreshment to the evening, you have two salad options. The first is a spinach and berries salad with candied walnuts, croissant croutons and an orange-raspberry vinaigrette. The second salad is made up of baby arugula with poached pears, dates, toasted almonds and Maytag blue cheese with a white balsamic vinaigrette. Yum!

Finally, we get to the entrees! You’re going to wish we served these special items every day, but our Executive Chef created these specifically for our Valentine’s Dinner, so if you want to feel the divine inspiration through your taste buds, you’d better call to reserve your spot. Here we go. You could go with the pan-seared halibut with red wine butter sauce, including baby carrots and fava bean on herbed polenta. And why wouldn’t you? We know why, because you looked at the next option: Porcini-crusted filet of Angus beef tenderloin, served with gratin potato, grilled asparagus and poached tomato. How can you choose between these two amazing options? Don’t bother. Go with this next entree instead: grilled lamb rib chops with a black cherry relish, match stick vegetables and white cheddar mashed Yukon potatoes. Lamb! Lamb, people! Do you even know the care and dedication it takes to make an incredible lamb dish?! If you think you can’t handle it, there’s still the red wine braised organic chicken with rosemary jus served over mushroom risotto with panfried green beans and carrots. Not that the chicken isn’t going to be superb – it is. It’s just not lamb. Finally, if your date is perhaps a vegetarian, we have you covered. Have her try the sesame-crusted tofu with grilled marinated baby Bok Choy, with bamboo rice and crisp vegetables. You would not believe what our chefs can accomplish with tofu.

And so we end on dessert. You’ll get to taste some of our chef’s personal creations at the end of your evening.

Take your time and relax a while before strolling over to our rustic stone fireplace for your complimentary picture. Set in a cozy nook in our lobby, the stone fireplace is one of our most popular settings for photos. Set your phone down and forget about Instagram for a minute – we’re providing a professional photographer just for you! That’s going to be something she can send home to her friends and family when she brags about how amazing her Valentine’s Day was this year.

You don’t have to book an overnight stay if all you’re looking for is a nice romantic dinner, but, if you do want an overnight stay, we’re running some fabulous special offers right now for this special day. Look for rose petals and truffles as you enter your room, and should you wish to enhance the romance, you can add long-stem tuxedo strawberries for that extra wow factor.

Breakfast will be ready when you are, until 11am the next morning, at Windows Restaurant. After such a wonderful evening, you may want to relax with a couples massage at Tranquility the Spa, or take some time and stroll the grounds along our miles of walkway.

Now is the time to begin your planning if you want to win her over this year. Come celebrate Valentine’s Day with us Friday, February 14th and Saturday, February 15th!

The First Annual BBQ, Boots & Blues Fest at Lake Lanier Islands

Monday, November 4th, 2013

Well ladies and gentlemen, our very first BBQ, Boots & Blues Fest went off without a hitch! Even the weather cooperated with us in order to make this day as perfect as could be! More then 2,500 guests at Peachtree Pointe Amphitheater and the event field were well taken care of with nearly 20 local restaurants showcasing their prized BBQ, live music on two stages all day long, a very cool classic cars “Cruise-In,” and a variety of fun activities for kids including a rock wall, a high-fly trampoline, bouncy slides, face painting and sand art! All in all we had a blast, and we can hardly wait for next year’s BBQ, Boots & Blues Fest benefitting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. The GFBF raised a solid amount of donations, and more importantly, spread a ton of information about the organization and what it does. Our non-food vendors enjoyed the day as well, with YP being a popular BBQ tent, and the Spinal Testing tent giving out a lot of consultations to people who may have just been tired of walking around… Anyway, let’s get to the pictures already!!

It was a perfectly cloudless day at our very first BBQ, Boots & Blues Festival!

We set up our own tent where our Facebook followers could grab a free sample of BBQ and chili!

And guests could easily purchase some souvenirs from the event.

But what better souvenir than Sand Art?? Harry Tallman provided the sand and the bottles for this popular kids activity.

Another popular kids activity was facepainting!

And the bouncy slides!

While the kids were at play, the Dalmatians kept careful watch.

And while the Dalmatians kept careful watch, the firefighters took careful pictures!

But they weren’t the only ones! Many guests really enjoyed the view from Peachtree Pointe!

Even the Amphitheater saw some action!

Kids could even take a ride on the train!

These old dudes certainly did rock!

Wow, look at them jam!

Bands on two stages provided live music all day long for people enjoying their BBQ!

And speaking of BBQ, here’s the WIlliamson Brothers BBQ tent! They won best overall BBQ at the end of the day! Way to go guys!

Pit Boss BBQ was a close 2nd!

BBQ lovers need side items too! This booth would fry just about anything!

Including Oreos! Goodness, we love the South!!

Fox Dogs, while famous for their huge variety of hot dogs, also fried up some fabulous Sweet Cream Corn Nuggets and amazing beignets!

The food trucks were out in force as well on Saturday! One Love was very popular.

Smiley’s may have had the best view for a vendor!

And ChayJs was a huge hit with the kids! Cookies baking in the sun? Yes, please!

Plenty of ice cream stops around the event field! This one had prime real estate next to the bouncy rides.

Ice cream ended up being one of the favorites for the day with the amazing weather at the beginning of November!

Former Braves pitcher John Rocker was out signing autographs and taking pictures with fans who remember his 3-year stint in Atlanta.

Because of you guys and your support, the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation will be able to do a lot in the upcoming year to promote fire safety and to help burn victims across the state. The GFBF does a ton of outreach in the community, providing camps, scholarships, weekend family retreats, and donations to both the Grady Hospital Burn Center in Atlanta and the JM Still Burn Foundation in Augusta. You can visit www.gfbf.org to learn more about this incredible organization. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Stay tuned for Wednesday’s article, focusing on the Classic Cars “Cruise-In!”

Lake Lanier Islands presents BBQ, Boots & Blues Festival

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

Can you smell what Lake Lanier Islands is cooking?? It’s BBQ like you’ve never seen before!! In partnership with and support of the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, Lake Lanier Islands is very pleased and excited to be hosting the first annual BBQ, Boots & Blues Festival on November 3rd, 2013! Gather ’round as more than 20 local hand-picked restaurants show off their BBQ-cookin’ chops on the Peachtree Pointe event field and listen to some amazing musicians jamming out under the crisp blue sky all day long.

There’ll be tons of fun for all ages! In addition to the restaurants and live entertainment, we’ll have artist tents, a Sports Center with the Atlanta Braves and Hawks fan teams, a Kid’s Corner, and dealer car show will cover the event field with a “Cruise-In” featuring some really awesome classic cars. Do you guys remember former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker? Ohhhh boy yes you do! He’ll be there signing autographs and taking pics for all you Braves fans out there! The really awesome news is that admission to the festival is FREE with purchase of a parking pass! BBQ tastings range from $0.50-$6.00. BBQ, Boots & Blues is a rain or shine event.

Sunset Cove Fall and Winter Hours of Operation

Monday, October 14th, 2013

Attention fellow food and Lake Lovers! Today (Columbus Day) is the last day that Sunset Cove Restaurant and Cafe will be open during the week until Magical Nights of Lights Starts.

Sunset Cove Restaurant and Cafe is one of the most popular lakeside eating destinations on Lake Lanier. There aren’t a ton of places on the Lake where you can just dock your boat and walk right up to get some grub, and Sunset Cove frequently offers live music in addition to giant fire pits and big screen tvs for optimal sports-watching. But as winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, we find that people are much less likely to want margaritas and ice cream, and much more likely to want soup and hot chocolate.

That’s why we’re very happy to announce that Sunset Cove will be getting some modifications in the near future to combat the encroaching cold. This information is hot off the presses, so check back regularly here, on our Facebook page, and Twitter page for more details as they come out!

Lake Lanier Islands Fall Wine Cruise Series

Monday, October 7th, 2013

Sunday’s Wine Cruise was a great success, and we want to thank everyone who signed up and came out! It was a perfectly splendid day for cruising about on the Lake! The weather was balmy, the breeze was light, and the crew was gracious. If you’ve never been on one of our wine cruises, you’re really missing out; this event is one of the gems of the South, and a fantastically unique way to spend a pleasant Sunday afternoon. Let’s get to some pictures, shall we?

What a beautiful day!

Our first wine was a Charmeroy Brut Rose, which was bubbly and sweet and selected for its lovely pairing with our first course. In addition to a nice cheese and fruit platter (which included honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, cranberries, and cheddar, smoked gouda, and borsin cheese with garlic and herbs), our first course offered chipotle and chocolate ganache tartlets. The spicy richness of the ganache really brought out the sweetness of the wine, and many if our guests eagerly looked for seconds and thirds of the little tartlets.

Our second wine was a floral, oaky white wine: Arroyo Secco Chardonnay from Monteray. There are only 600 cases in the world of this creamy, buttery white with a citrus finish. Served with the Chardonnay, our guests enjoyed a tasty dish dreamed up by Chef Kevin Allen which consisted of a seared sea scallop, served chilled with Meyer lemon foam and garnished with a crispy fried mint leaf. The mint leaves had to be carefully placed on each pillow of lemon foam or they would essentially disintegrate due to delicacy.

Next up was the Stolpman Golden Point, a dry white from California which was a big, toasty blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Roussanne with a brown spice finish. Our guests enjoyed a light, refreshing butternut squash and mango couscous with roasted poblano and a lime vinaigrette. During the whole tasting, Demetrius, the wine rep for Prime Line Spirits, came around to each table to discuss the wines being poured and to answer any questions.

For our fourth wine, we brought out the first red of the afternoon: a bold, jammy Crush Farms Zinfandel with a peppery finish. Our guests were wild about the walnut and maple sausage brioche “Monte Cristo” with a tomato maple jam! This sweet and spicy treat enhanced the spices and berries lingering in the Zinfandel, and brought them to the forefront of the palette.

Next we brought out a second Crush Farms red wine, this time a very smooth, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. With this kind of wine you want a rich, heavy meat, and our Chef delivered a beautiful tray of lamb lollipops with lavender and blood orange gastrique. The lamb was tender, its flavor enhanced and was enhanced by the Cab quite marvelously.

Finally, as the Island Princess headed home, we brought out one last wine, a Sofa King Bueno. This bold wine was a spicy, full-bodied, and exciting blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, petit Syrah, and Grenache. If you’re wondering why the vintners decided to call their wine “Sofa King Bueno,” just take a sip, and say it really fast. The Bueno was served with grilled shrimp skewers, seasoned with smoked ginger and coriander. The interesting combination of flavors brought out by the red reminded us slightly of Mediterranean or Indian cuisine, and certainly this dish was the talk of the ship until we docked again.

And what wine tasting cruise would be complete without a nice dessert to finish? Chef Kevin Allen personally brought around a charming tray of assorted tiny cheesecakes and macaroons, including various chocolates, vanilla, lemon, raspberry, mocha, and fan favorite pistachio. As usual, each of the wines was available for purchase after the cruise.

As guests disembarked, full of happy memories and chatting with new friends, we asked a few of them to tell us what they thought. Gordon said, “It’s one of the best kept secrets. The ambience was exceptional.” Marie added, “I think it was very nice, I’d definitely do it again and invite more friends.”

Well, folks, we’ve got one  wine cruise left unless we decide to extend the series, and that’s on October 27th. You tell us in the comments below, would you like to see an extension of our popular wine cruise series into late fall and early winter?

Lake Lanier Islands Fall Wine Cruise Series

Monday, September 16th, 2013

If you haven’t had a chance to come out to one of our incredible wine cruises, you are missing an opportunity both unique and exciting. Fortunately for you, we have two more cruises lined up for October 6th and 20th!

Guests will interact with winemakers and other knowledgeable wine industry insiders for a cruise aboard the Island Princess complete with wine samples and creatively conceived appetizers that pair with each wine. Every wine cruise is different, but in the past, we’ve had gorgonzola-stuffed strawberries, caramelized onion Consommé Boules with lemon crème fraîche (tiny french onion soup loaf bowls for you non-French-speakers), and lamb lollipops with raspberry gastrique, and so much more!

Our wine cruises have become immensely popular – we’ve seen birthdays, congratulations for new jobs and promotions, engagements and anniversaries. Big groups and small groups, girlfriends and bros, young couples and elderly couples, business associates and family reunions, everyone has a great time on our cruises! Read about one of our June cruises here!

Here’s what some of our guests said about their experience on the Island Princess:

“The weather wasn’t the best, but the crew really took care of us, and the food was to die for!” – Sarah F.

“It was my birthday, so my sorority sisters took me on the wine cruise. I’m used to box wine [laughing], so of course the wines were amazing! I’m kidding! No really, I think it was my favorite birthday so far, everyone was so nice!” – Kara S.

“My wife insisted we come out and try it. Don’t tell her, but I had a lot of fun.” – Howard T.

The Island Princess will set sail at 2pm from Harbor Landing, and dock again at 5pm. This unique opportunity to cruise beautiful Lake Lanier with friends and associates is really going to make for a special and fun Sunday in October. Come see the leaves changing colors while you taste fabulous wines from all over the world!

For individuals, the entry is $50, and for a couple, $90. All guests can order the wines they sampled at the conclusion of each cruise. To sign up, please call our concierge at (770) 945-8787.
