Full Moon Party Recap

It was a beautiful Saturday for a fantastic Full Moon Party! The weather was balmy, the skies fairly clear, and the music kept everyone swaying and stamping their feet! Guests enjoyed a moonlit stroll on the beach, where they could relax around the bonfires, try a shrimp, chicken, or beef kebob or two, or join in on a game of pickup volleyball. There were a few pups on the premises as well (Lake Lanier Islands Resort is now pet-friendly!), taking it all in and playing a little fetch on the sand.

Our guests loved the dance area right in front of the stage, easily accessible from the Sunset Cove Restaurant, beach, and our volleyball court which had been transformed into a sand-bottom seating area. Wild applause broke out for both the Cupid Shuffle and the Wobble – always fan favorites – and upwards of 50 guests dipped and swayed together. Another fan favorite, this time a live band, played music all night long. Haywire put on quite a show, running through rock classics, country hits, and even taking a few requests from the crowd!

By far one of the most crowd-pleasing moments came when Jimmy Pyro made an explosive return to Sunset Cove with his fire-breathing tricks and stunts. The crowd parted and gave him plenty of room as he twisted and turned with his fire batons whirling dangerously in rhythmic motions. Moms and Dads kept their camera phones recording as Jimmy interacted with enthralled kids, giving them the hottest of high fives and posing for pictures.

Many of our guests could be spotted taking group pics and selfies while completely decked out in glowing necklaces, bracelets, and balloon hats. And those weren’t the only things lighting up the night! Our stiltwalker juggled flashing bowling pins, tossing them around his back and even down to guests. He even did the Cupid Shuffle way above everyone on the dance floor!

When guests weren’t dancing or playing volleyball, they could sit for a while in the main volleyball court, hang out around the giant fire pits, relax by the beach bonfires, or grab a bite to eat from Sunset Cove Restaurant. Our new beach grill was also very popular, serving up beef, chicken, and shrimp kebobs with grilled peppers and onions! Many guests could be seen walking around munching on kebobs while rocking out to Haywire!

At the end of the night, our fireworks spectacular delighted the crowd gathered on the beach and around the Cove. Boaters blew the horns appreciatively as the night came to an end.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our first Full Moon Party of the season! It was a ton of fun and we can’t wait to see you all out there next month when Banks & Shane are headlining! Tell your friends Sunset Cove is the place to be Saturday, April 12, because Full Moon Parties at Lake Lanier Islands are better than they’ve ever been!
