Team Building in Georgia

March 13th, 2014

Did you know Lake Lanier Islands has over 75 team building activities for corporate or otherwise?? MORE THAN SEVENTY FIVE. Can you even name 10? Besides the trust fall, we mean – you’ve done that since you were ten. These aren’t your middle school summer camp activities, though. Imagine watching that shy girl from the corner cubicle take charge and direct the construction of a cardboard boat Christopher Columbus would have been lucky to have in his fleet! Magellan? More like Majealous, amiright? And then imagine your boss setting sail in the Cardboard Regatta and racing across the Legacy Pool in the boat that you all literally just taped together!

We’ve got pontoon treasure hunts, we’ve got charity drives, we’ve got 1Ks, 5Ks, and scavenger hunts, we’ve got a beautiful golf course, miles of walking trails, and even zip lines all over the Islands! We’ve got horseback riding and bicycles, we’ve got activities for small groups and large! You are absolutely guaranteed to bond as a unit when you come build your team at Lake Lanier Islands.

For the next few weeks, we’re going to be doing a blog series on all the different team building activities you can do, so stay tuned for information on how you can be the company that all the other companies want to be!

There’s so much room for activities!

1. The Cardboard Regatta

Skills used: Teamwork, collaboration, communication, listening

It’s actually pretty fantastic for how simple it sounds. You divvy up your large group into a couple small groups, and each small group constructs a boat out of cardboard and duct tape. After the boats are constructed, each team takes them out to the Legacy Pool to race against each other. Strategy is a huge component of this activity. Teams will need to plan out how they want to construct their boat as quickly as possible. Is a squared off stern better than a tapered one? Do you construct a paddle or use your hands? How much duct tape do you really need? Almost as important as strategy is time management. You have a limited amount of time to construct your float, so you’re racing against the clock too. Teamwork is a must in the Cardboard Regatta. Who will design, who will construct, who will direct, who will captain? Everybody can’t do everything, but everybody must do something. The Cardboard Regatta will challenge your team in a totally unique and ridiculously fun way.

2. The Islands Treasure Hunt

Skills used: Communication, creativity, problem solving, time management, teamwork

If sword fights, rum running, and shanties are commonplace in your office, then the Islands Treasure Hunt is definitely for your team. Lord Nelson Charters takes you a world away as you search deserted islands around Lake Lanier for buried treasure – finding and deciphering clues along the way. You’ll learn to navigate and work as a team, and teamwork is never so vital as when you’re a pirate on the open seas!

3. Masterpiece Mixers

Skills Used: Listening, concentration, relaxation, team bonding

If you’re looking for a gentler experience, then look no further than Masterpiece Mixers. There’s no swashbuckling here, unless you decide to paint a picture of the high seas in a calm group setting by the Legacy Pool or on the beach. Let a Masterpiece artist come demonstrate painting techniques (basic through advanced) as you all paint together. The really interesting thing here is that although you’re all painting the same picture, there are a hundred different ways to get there. Watch as your coworkers focus on different aspects of their paintings, learn from each other, encourage experimentation, and bounce ideas around in a way that will encourage the same team collaboration in the workplace. Plus, you’ll have some snazzy new artwork to hang up on your office wall!

Riley Biederer Plays at Sunset Cove Opening

February 24th, 2014

It was a beautiful opening weekend for Sunset Cove, the beach cafe and club situated on the beach here at Lake Lanier Islands. The sun was shining, the wind was quiet, and the food was phenomenal! And to top it all off, local favorite Riley Biederer brought the music as the sun began to sink into the Lake. Yes sir, good times at Sunset Cove! It’s only the beginning, too. We’ve kicked off the summer THREE MONTHS early because we’re tired of winter! So we enclosed the restaurant (with these pretty awesome roll-up doors so it can be open in the summer), lit up the fireplace, and turned on the lights so we could hang out with you guys year-round! How about we take a look at what went down this weekend?

Boaters started to arrive pretty early.

The fireplace was roaring!

Overall, a great evening!

The grilled shrimp appetizer.

Riley Biederer was seriously rockin’ the Sunset Stage!

Sunset Cove Beach Cafe & Club is now open weekends! So come on out and enjoy a great atmosphere and delicious food!

Windows was decorated beautifully for the occasion, with live music and a beautiful array of roses and candles on every table.

After an amazing appetizer, guests could choose between this incredible spinach and berries salad…

…and this delicious arugula and pear salad! Yummmmm!

One of the entrees included this delicate pan-seared halibut with fava bean on herbed polenta.

Another entree was this perfectly prepared porcini-crusted filet of Angus beef tenderloin with all the fixin’s on the side. Wowza!

Or this insanely delicious and tender lamb!! Can we go back in time and do it over again? Please?

All New Menu at Bullfrog’s Bar & Grille!

February 6th, 2014

Our New Year’s Resolutions included making your dining experiences even better, so we totally revamped our BullFrog’s menu! Now featuring even tastier burgers, steaks, salmon and more, the BullFrog’s of 2014 will be one of your top foodie destinations for the whole Lake Lanier area from down in Buford all the way up to Gainesville! Let’s take you through some old favorites that got an upgrade and some new flavors that are sure to delight your inner food snob.

We’ll start with our appetizers. We’re trying something new in the BullFrog’s kitchen, something that’s a very popular Southern flavor: Mini Chicken Waffle Bites. Chicken-n-waffles is a tried and true staple south of the Mason-Dixon line, so we’re very excited to be adding our take on it. We opted for the minis so everyone at your table could try some sugary goodness. They’re served hot with maple syrup, ancho chili powdered sugar, and a side of strawberry butter. Heaven.

You can start with those or any of our other 10 appetizers before moving on to a refreshing salad. Try our Southwestern Salad or Asian Mandarin Salad for a taste of culture, and top it with one of nine dressings, including one called “warm bacon” (how could that possibly be bad?) or our gluten-free mango pineapple vinaigrette.

Maybe you want a sandwich, and maybe you want fish on that sandwich! Boy are you in luck, because it literally does not get better than our Salmon BLT. Seriously. This is the sandwich that other sandwiches wish they could be. The David Beckham of sandwiches, if you will. Only instead of perfectly sculpted muscles, our sandwich has perfectly sculpted flaky croissant bread, and instead of pleasing your soccer buds, our sandwich is going to please your tastebuds. Oh, we also brought back the ever-popular French Dip.

This year we’re bringing our A Game to the table! A as in Angus. Tuck your napkin in your collar and check out our Signature Big Bullfrog Burger. This grilled behemoth of a burger comes with crumbled blue cheese, buffalo sauce, black & tan onion rings, and thick peppered bacon stacked high on lettuce, tomato, red onions, and pickle chips. Your tastebuds won’t know what to do with themselves. They might explode in happiness, they might sprout spirit fingers, they might throw a party. There’s no knowing in advance.

Perhaps you’d like a heartier fare? Try a 12oz. center-cut Rib Eye Steak or our 8oz Sirloin. You won’t find a better steak anywhere on the Lake. These savory slabs of meat are served with our signature Red Wine Demi Butter.

Since you’re on the lake, go with our 8oz. Atlantic Salmon with teriyaki or citrus butter. Our salmon comes in fresh and practically melts in your mouth. These fish are so lovingly seasoned that you’ll want to head back into our kitchen and hug your chef. Or, if you have a spare tarp to wrap around your clothes, you might want to bust it out before you order our Signature Firehouse Ribs. These bad boys are marinated in the Williams Family Signature Recipe (top secret, of course), and slow cooked for fall-off-the-bone yummy times. Don’t even play. This is for serious dining patrons with something to prove – like how much awesome they can handle in one sitting.

Now for dessert, if you can even handle it, we have something new and exciting that you won’t find anywhere else. The BullFrog’s Caramel Banana Topped Waffle could be classified as one of the Wonders of the World, but for some reason it doesn’t last very long once we put it on a plate. It could have something to do with how insanely amazing it tastes.

Now, pick your tongue up off the floor, get in your car or boat, and leap on in to BullFrogs Bar & Grille for a hoppin’ good time!!

Check out the FULL MENU here, and don’t forget to stop by for special dining events here at Legacy Lodge at Lake Lanier Islands!!

Call ahead to save your seat or to ask about specials! 770.945.8787

Plan your Romantic Valentine’s Day Getaway

January 17th, 2014

Picture it: rose petals, truffles, Champagne. You’re sitting in front of a roaring stone fireplace with the love of your life celebrating the most romantic day of the year. You’ve just finished a perfect four-course meal while listening to live music, and now you’re commemorating your experience with a professional picture, compliments of Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Your date is so overwhelmed and impressed she almost misses the long-stem tuxedo strawberries you’ve ordered special. You are the master of Valentine’s Day.

Do you have the general idea? Good. Now let’s talk details. You have some options, and if you really want to impress her, you’d better look over them and choose wisely. It’s not every man who can become a master of Valentine’s Day.

Dinner. Our chefs have prepared an incredible four-course meal for Valentine’s Day. Would you like wine or Champagne? It’s your choice. It really depends on what you would prefer to pair your selection with:

For an appetizer, choose between three amazing options. First, a mushroom, leek and goat cheese tart with cherry balsamic vincotto. Second, traditional French onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese crouton. Third, sausage- and spinach-stuffed Portabella mushroom with roasted tomato sauce. If these don’t get you salivating, you must not have tastebuds.

Now, to cleanse your palate and to add refreshment to the evening, you have two salad options. The first is a spinach and berries salad with candied walnuts, croissant croutons and an orange-raspberry vinaigrette. The second salad is made up of baby arugula with poached pears, dates, toasted almonds and Maytag blue cheese with a white balsamic vinaigrette. Yum!

Finally, we get to the entrees! You’re going to wish we served these special items every day, but our Executive Chef created these specifically for our Valentine’s Dinner, so if you want to feel the divine inspiration through your taste buds, you’d better call to reserve your spot. Here we go. You could go with the pan-seared halibut with red wine butter sauce, including baby carrots and fava bean on herbed polenta. And why wouldn’t you? We know why, because you looked at the next option: Porcini-crusted filet of Angus beef tenderloin, served with gratin potato, grilled asparagus and poached tomato. How can you choose between these two amazing options? Don’t bother. Go with this next entree instead: grilled lamb rib chops with a black cherry relish, match stick vegetables and white cheddar mashed Yukon potatoes. Lamb! Lamb, people! Do you even know the care and dedication it takes to make an incredible lamb dish?! If you think you can’t handle it, there’s still the red wine braised organic chicken with rosemary jus served over mushroom risotto with panfried green beans and carrots. Not that the chicken isn’t going to be superb – it is. It’s just not lamb. Finally, if your date is perhaps a vegetarian, we have you covered. Have her try the sesame-crusted tofu with grilled marinated baby Bok Choy, with bamboo rice and crisp vegetables. You would not believe what our chefs can accomplish with tofu.

And so we end on dessert. You’ll get to taste some of our chef’s personal creations at the end of your evening.

Take your time and relax a while before strolling over to our rustic stone fireplace for your complimentary picture. Set in a cozy nook in our lobby, the stone fireplace is one of our most popular settings for photos. Set your phone down and forget about Instagram for a minute – we’re providing a professional photographer just for you! That’s going to be something she can send home to her friends and family when she brags about how amazing her Valentine’s Day was this year.

You don’t have to book an overnight stay if all you’re looking for is a nice romantic dinner, but, if you do want an overnight stay, we’re running some fabulous special offers right now for this special day. Look for rose petals and truffles as you enter your room, and should you wish to enhance the romance, you can add long-stem tuxedo strawberries for that extra wow factor.

Breakfast will be ready when you are, until 11am the next morning, at Windows Restaurant. After such a wonderful evening, you may want to relax with a couples massage at Tranquility the Spa, or take some time and stroll the grounds along our miles of walkway.

Now is the time to begin your planning if you want to win her over this year. Come celebrate Valentine’s Day with us Friday, February 14th and Saturday, February 15th!

Reservations are strongly encouraged for Valentine’s Day dinner.

This New Year’s Eve, experience luxurious overnight accommodations, and enjoy free admission to Magical Nights of Lights, a fantastical reception, a delightful four-course dinner (how Gatsbian!), a slammin’ party with a live band playing your favorite 70s & 80s dance hits, a high-class Champagne toast and breakfast on New Year’s Day until 1pm! Is there any reason not to come and carouse at our Grand Ballroom when the Peach drops? We submit that there is not.

Check out some of the details below:

Band Info:

Carl Testa will open the evening with music while you dine.

Headliner: FORTE will crank up the evening with your favorite 70′s and 80′s dance hits.

BullFrogs will also have DJ Steve Powers on New Year’s Eve.

Plated Dinner Menu:

***1st Course***
You’ll be grabbing the nearest spoon when the crab and brie bisque hits the table. On a cold winter night, nothing will warm you up both literally and figuratively more than this tasty appetizer.

***2nd Course***
Salad, of course, for the second course! But this isn’t a fast food joint, and even our salads are classy. Grab a fork and lay into arugula and baby oak leaf with shaved fennel, roasted apples and balsamic-bleu cheese vinaigrette. You won’t be sorry.

***Intermezzo***
You’ll need to cleanse your palette after the sweet taste of crab and arugula, and there’s nothing tastier than our blood orange sorbet with Grand Marnier-infused berries! We’re licking our lips just thinking about it!

***3rd Course***
For your main dish, our chefs have prepared a pan-seared filet of Angus beef paired with stuffed Legacy lobster tailPinot Noir glace and béarnaise, with a petite vegetable mélange and truffled gratin potato. If you can even move after this dish, you’ll be excited to see what we have lined up for dessert!

***4th Course***
We were being pretty serious about the “being able to move” bit, so we kept dessert light and refreshing. Try our friandise served “family style,” including miniature  French pastries, truffles, macaroons and dipped berries. Somehow we’re able to get these out of the kitchen and to our guests without eating them. It’s a true Christmas miracle if you ask us, because that’s how tasty everything is!

If you’d like to look into booking the best New Year’s Eve Party you’ll ever go to, click here! Do it. You know you want to.

If you have any questions about the evening, please call (770) 945-8787.
